Seven 3000 series vandalproof NOVUS cameras are already using H.265 compression algorithm. It is, besides the H.264 and MJPEG/G.711, one of available encoding video and audio streams algorithms. Each of compression algorithms available in the camera can be configured independently. Default encoding algorithm is the H.264.
While creating the new encoding algorithm, it was predicted to double the efficiency of data compression in comparison to H.264. This enables even double-sized backup time for the same disk space. However, the increase of data compression efficiency comes at a cost of algorithm complexity, hence the need for more computing power of the processor. It is essential while planning the system and determining maximum number of cameras per NMS server unit. NMS software for video surveillance system and NMS server units completely support the H.265 compression algorithm.
